Dauther of india was the brain child of mehtra a former officer of railway. he worked in many films and his second film was released in nineteen twenty eight. He directed his first film was husn ka daku. This is very popular film in those days. In this film he cast the best actress gulzar begum with a supporting role.

He introduced many artists to the Hindi Film Industry who later on went on to become legends in their own right such as naushad majrooh sultanpuri suraiya.
